He founded Curro in 1998, successfully guiding the organization to its listing on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange in 2011. From July 2017 until March 2020, Dr. van der Merwe served as the CEO of STADIO Holdings, where he played a crucial role in fulfilling the commitments outlined in its Pre-listing Statement. After resigning as CEO and executive director of STADIO Holdings on March 31, 2020, he continues to contribute his expertise as a consultant for the PSG Group and STADIO Holdings in education.
Dr. van der Merwe also maintains his influence in shaping educational strategies as a non-executive director on the Curro board.
